Elena Gorshunova opens the 2022/23 season with a return to the Semperoper Dresden to perform the role of Corinna in Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims”.She then makes her role debut as Marguerite de Valois in Meyerbeer’s “Les Huguenots” at the Semperoper.

Elena began her 2020/21 season at the Semperoper Dresden with her role as Donna Anna in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”, conducted by Omer Meir Wellber, created by Andreas Kriegenburg.

In the 2019/20 season Ms.Gorshunova returned to the Semperoper Dresden in their new production of Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims” as Corinna. During her triumphant season, Elena made two significant house debuts; first at Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari as Musetta from Puccini’s “La Bohème”, created by Hugo De Ana, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti and at the Aalto Musiktheater Essen as Sophie from Strauss’s “Der Rosenkavalier”.

Elena began the 2018/19 season with her signature role of Konstanze in Mozart’s ”The Abduction from the Seraglio” at the Semperoper Dresden, where after that she continued to perform a wide repertoire including Susanna in Mozart’s ”Le nozze di Figaro”,  Musetta in Puccini’s ”La Bohème, Cleopatra in Handel’s ”Giulio Cesare in Egitto”. Beside that, she ended the season with her role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s ”Don Giovanni” at the Semperoper Dresden.

 Elena completed her studies in singing at Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow and after that she became a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre, where she has performed a repertoire including roles as Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s ”Il Viaggio a Reims” and as Pamina in Mozart’s ”The Magic Flute”.

She has since appeared on the European opera scene to perform major roles, including the title roles as Contessa di Folleville in “Il Viaggio a Reims” at the Theatre du Chatelet Paris, Opéra de Reims, Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, Opera de Marseille, Opera de Monpellier, Opera de Nice, Théâtre du CapitoleToulouse , Opéra d’Avignon, Grand Théâtre de Tours, Opéra de Vichy, Opéra National de Lorraine à Nancy and at the Washington Opera, as Giulietta in concert performance of Bellini’s ‘’I Capuleti e i Montecchi’’, performing alongside Elina Garanča as Romeo, under the baton of Karel-Mark Chichon and as Elvira in Bellini’s ‘’I Puritani’’ with the Latvian National symphony orchestra, as Gilda at the Opéra National de Lorraine à Nancy, as Catherine in Bizet’s ‘’La Jolie Fille de Perth at the Stadttheater Bern.

Ms. Gorshunova’s  Italian debut was as Contessa di Folleville in ‘’Il Viaggio a Reims’’ at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Kent Nagano. Following her Italian appearance was Elena’s role and stage debut as Susanna in Mozart’s ‘’Le Nozze di Figaro’’ at the New National Theatre Tokyo, as  Corinna in Rossini’s ‘’Il Viaggio a Reims’’ under the baton of Maestro Alberto Zedda in Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen and as Konstanze in Mozart’s  ‘’The Abduction from the Seraglio’’ at Angers Nantes Opéra.

In the summer of 2009 and as well as in 2012, Elena performed in Gala concert with Elina Garanča “Elina Garanča&Friends” in Stift Göttweig “Klassik unter Sternen“, where they presented a selection of popular operatic arias and duets.

From the 2010/2011 season Elena was a member of the ensemble at the Dresdner Semperoper, where she made her house and role debut as Sophie in ‘’Der Rosenkavalier’’, conducted by Peter Schneider and then appeared in the title roles as Gilda in Verdi’s ‘’Rigoletto’’, as Pamina in Mozart’s ‘’The Magic Flute’’, as Konstanze in Mozart’s ‘’The Abduction from the Seraglio’’, as Ilia in Mozart’s ‘’Idomeneo’’, as Servilia in Mozart’s ‘’ La Clemenza di Tito’’, as Cleopatra in Handel’s ‘’Giulio Cesare in Egitto’’, as Musetta in Puccini’s ‘’ La Bohème’’, as Susanna in Mozart’s ‘’ Le Nozze di Figaro’’ and as Ninetta in Rossini’s ‘’La gazza ladra’’.

Elena’s season 2013/2014 began in a return to the New National Theatre Tokyo, for her also signature role of Gilda in a new production of Verdi’s ‘’ Rigoletto’’, her stage debut at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz München as Konstanze in Mozart’s ‘’The Abduction from the Seraglio’’ and as Gilda at the Opera Leipzig. 

On the concert stage, Ms. Gorshunova has appeared as the soprano soloist in Carl  Orff’s  ”Carmina Burana” with the orchestra of Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz at the Gasteig Philharmonie München and she also sang Giulietta in Bellini’s ” I Capuleti e i Montecchi” with WDR Funkhausorchester Köln at the Klangvokal Musikfestival Dortmund.

Other recent engagements have included her stage debut as Konstanze at Teatro di San Carlo Napoli; Gilda in Verdi’s ”Rigoletto” at the Hamburgische  Staatsoper, at the Ópera de Bellas Artes  Mexico, at the Teatr Wielki Warsaw and at the Latvian National Opera; Sophie in Strauss’s ”Der Rosenkavalier” at  Theatro Municipal de São Paulo.
